About PiTaV, Inc.
Project It Takes a Village, Inc. (PiTaV) is a community-rooted nonprofit dedicated to mentoring youth, strengthening families, and building meaningful connections between communities in the United States and Africa. Inspired by the African philosophy of Ubuntu “I am because we are” PiTaV, Inc. exists to nurture healing, leadership, and opportunity through collective care. For over 20 years, PiTaV, Inc. has worked alongside youth and families to create spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and empowered to build their futures.
Mission & Vision
The mission of PiTaV, Inc. is to reconnect youth to the land and to each other, to empower them and strengthen communities through mentorship, cultural connection, leadership development, and healing centered programs.
Our vision is grounded in the philosophy of Ubuntu, "I am because we are and we work to create supportive environments where young people can build resilience, develop leadership skills, connect with culture and land, and realize their full potential.
Through mentorship, community engagement, and cross cultural partnership between the United States and Africa, PiTaV, Inc. nurtures the next generation of compassionate leaders and changemakers.

We strive to build communities where youth are empowered to lead, where cultural identity and global connection are celebrated, healing and resilience are nurtured, and collective care creates pathways to opportunity and transformation.
Through our work, we aim to cultivate a global village rooted in Ubuntu, where communities uplift one another and future generations thrive.

History
2004 PiTaV, Inc. comes to life through an entrepreneurship class project at Syracuse University under the guidance of Dr. Morris.
2006 Incorporated as 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization with the support of Prof Deborah Kenn and The Office of Clinical Legal Education at Syracuse University.
2014 Launched Constance Sithole Scholarship Fund (CSSF) - Enrolled our first Constance Sithole Scholars.
2021 Baseball program launched at Glen View 1 Primary School.
2021 Wheelchairs and hospital gowns gifted to Glen View Polyclinic, Budiriro PolyClinic, and Chipinge Hospital.
2024 Netball program launched in Glen View
